Welcome to Extinction Archives.
This website focuses on extinct animals since the Age of Discovery, particularly mammals and birds that vanished due to human activities in the past 200 to 300 years. As a personal project driven by passion, I strive to present accurate information drawn from books, academic papers, and other authoritative sources.
This project began as a Chinese-language website documenting extinct species. After comparing with similar resources online, I realized that my approach to organizing and analyzing historical materials could also contribute meaningfully to English-speaking audiences. Hence, this English version was created to share these unique perspectives and interpretations. The content here represents original work in organizing and interpreting information about these lost species, rather than simply compiling existing materials.
I place great emphasis on visual documentation, featuring museum specimen photographs and historical illustrations with proper attribution. Every detail is meticulously verified against reliable sources, avoiding unsubstantiated claims that often circulate online.
As this is a personal website maintained by one individual, errors and oversights are inevitable. Your feedback is always welcome - please click here to contact me.
