Welcome to Extinction Archives.
This website focuses on extinct animals since the Age of Discovery, particularly mammals and birds that vanished due to human activities in the past 200 to 300 years.
As online scraping, content aggregation, and generative AI tools have increasingly consumed original work in recent years, I no longer intend to keep publishing large amounts of dense, original research and writing on this site. From now on, the site will mainly retain overview material, though I will still try to make it as detailed and well grounded as possible.
That said, as new sources and new research continue to appear, existing entries will still be revised and updated whenever possible, with the aim of reflecting the current state of knowledge.
I am also working on a book on this subject. It will present the material in a fuller, more systematic, and more original form, and is planned for publication later this year. Information about it will be posted here when the time comes.
As a personally maintained site, errors and omissions are inevitable. The content is continuously revised as my research progresses, with outdated information being updated over time. If you have suggestions or notice any issues, please feel free to contact me.
